Keyboard Activism: January 2016

 

Washington’s 2016 legislative session is in full swing.  The following are some quick links to legislative bills that are important to some local KPTP members.  Click on “Comment on this bill” to leave a quick message for your legislators (or call the Legislative Hotline: 1-800-562-6000).KPTP Keyboard Activism

ABORTION:

H.B. 2294: This bill, championed by Representative David Taylor (R-15th), stops taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood, which received over $500 MILLION of your money in 2014.

COMMON CORE:

H.B. 2165: This bill, championed by Representative Elizabeth Scott (R-39th), eliminates Common Core in Washington.  You can find great resources in Naomi Evans’ “Stop Common Core Email-Athon” to the Bremerton School District.

H.B. 2167: This bill, championed by Representative Elizabeth Scott (R-39th), permits parents the right to opt their children out of Common Core assessments.

S.B. 6030: This bill, championed by Pam Roach (R-31st), eliminates Common Core in Washington similar to companion House bill H.B. 2165.

STOP COMMON CORE RALLY:
Monday February 15, 2016 … 10:00am – 2:00pm … Legislative Building in Olympia

CONVENTION OF STATES:

H.J.M 4013: This bill, championed by Representative Matt Manweller (R-13th), includes Washington in a Convention of States to propose amendments which would restore the balance of power between the national government and the states.

S.J.M 8016: This bill, championed by Senator Ann Rivers (R-18th), includes Washington in a Convention of States to propose amendments which would restore the balance of power between the national government and the states.

GUN RIGHTS:

H.B. 2481: This bill fixes the recently passed SBR bill to add manufacturing as it was intended.

S.B. 6165: This bill, companion to H.B. 2481, fixes the recently passed SBR bill to add manufacturing as it was intended.

PATERNITY FRAUD:

H.B. 2612: This bill, dubbed the “Brandon Jones Act”, closes a loophole to paternity fraud.  Read more about Naomi Evans’ story shared at our February 2014 meeting.  Join the Facebook Event for more.

    I don’t know but I joined up under Kirk Koenig of Ellensburg when we sent tea bags to D.C. I have been supporting all of the branches I have only been able to do internet work because of a disability. see fi there is any record of me, Don Holmes ,330 Mcgreer rd Selah wa98942
