For those new to the debate on Common Core, it is a federal takeover of decision-making capabilities of local school boards among other harmful consequences to our teachers, parents, and students. In the summer of 2013, the Kitsap Patriots Tea Party adopted a resolution opposing Common Core. Recently, both major political parties in Washington followed suit. It is only party leadership in hearings like these that is preventing repeal.
